DAW 2016: Find Happiness In The Process
Find The Light In Every Day
While I haven't blogged in a while I found that there was no better time to do this post than today. For those of you that don't know this week April 18-24th is National Depression Week. While it seems that every week or day is national something day, this one resonates with me personally. I suffer from depression. It may not seem like it because I truly try each and everyday to find happiness because I believe it is a choice. I win that battle almost every day, but yesterday in impeccable timing it was an uphill battle.
Depression is not your fault. The timing is not your fault. I tell myself this every time it hits me hard. As hard as it is to tell myself this, depression must not let me make any choice that I would regret later. Same goes for anyone who suffers from it with me. It will get better. It will always get better.
Depression affects more people than you would think and that is why I write this. One part to let those with it know they aren't alone and I am always open to talk about it. The other part is help others realize that in this time anything can become a world ending factor. It's not an excuse to pamper or go easy on us, but rather just to know that they can make a difference and all it takes is someone to talk to. Going it alone is one of the biggest mistakes a person can make during the dark times. You aren't a burden and if the person is going to judge you for what you have to say are they really your friend?
I will end this post with a bit of advice. Find positivity in every day. That is one of the greatest tools we have as humans. This goes for those with or without depression. You have within you the ability to make the most out of every day, and who knows you may be able to save someone's life just by starting up a conversation on the right day. Be the light in someone's darkness.
I apologize for the sporadicness of this post, but just wanted to get it out there.
Until next time
